Shaggy Rugs

Because shag rugs are the most comfy.

The great thing about shaggy rugs is that they are able to add a sense of warmth to the room they are being used in no matter how large or small it might be. The only problem that many of us have with them is that they do not like to stay in one place. In most cases the backing of the rugs will slip and slide over hardwood and bathroom floors.

Rug PadThe only way that you are able to prevent you or someone you know from slipping on them and spraining an ankle is to place a rug pad beneath it. Rug pads are made using synthetic rubber or polypropelene. They are no skid pads and because of their high density construction they are resilient and perfect to use in high traffic areas.

Finding Rug Pads

It is important that we find the right type of rug pad that is able to be placed beneath the shaggy rug that we are putting in our new living room or home office. The only time that we will not need to use them is when we are using a shaggy area rug that is being placed on top of a carpeted area.

When purchasing a rug pad you have to think about how it can protect the rug and the floor beneath it. It needs to have certain features to it which will make it non slip or non skidding to keep the rug in one place all the time.

Another feature it should have is the ability to provide a layer of cushion. The best rug pads are those that are thick. This helps to protect the hard wood floors and you will notice that it will make the rug seem thicker and thus more comfortable.

The best type of pad you can purchase is one that works for all surfaces. This is useful in keeping your shaggy rug from wrinkling and is able to withstand high traffic areas. The only downside to these is that they do not always provide us with the cushion we are looking for.

The cost of the rug pads will vary depending on the type that you are looking for and the quality features that they provide. Most of these cost anywhere between $10 – $100.
